Improved contents page

This is my original contents page before I updated it with my final version. The differences between this contents page and my actual finished contents is that my other contents page has more information, better quality pictures, band members are wearing better costumes and personally, I believe that it looks more professional. Below is my finished contents page. It has headings which separates the different things within the contents page such as the cover, the music headings and the regulars which are featured on most music magazines

Plan for the week - Week 7

I wish to make posts on my band members and which photos I like the most out of all of the photos I took, show the progressions I had made of my first draft versions and my final versions of my magazine. Also, I aim to show improvements of my magazine

Improved double page spread

Above is my original double page spread. After using the feedback which I was given in order to improve my music magazine, I had altered it using different images, different fonts and positioning my text differently to make it look more professional and presentable. This involved me taking more pictures of my 2 band members in good costumes in order to be photographed. In addition, it involved me experimenting with different fonts to see what works best with the music genre I am working with, Indie.
I was also told to use the space on the page more effectively which involved moving the columns over, changing the size of my text and adding more pictures of the band to the page. Originally, I had 3 members in the collided band, Will, Brad and Alfie but I decided to take photos without Will as the photos looked better with only the 2 members. Also, I removed the musical instrument which was in the image as it didn't look right and made the band members look more natural as they aren't expected to be photographed. Below is my updated and improved double page spread. I kept the columns the same width but made the gap between the sides and the middle the same size making it look more presentable. Also, I added a line underneath the title of the double page spread just to make it look neater and so that it is separated from the introduction paragraph.
I also added more photos which meant that I had t go to the photograph room with my 2 band members but ad to wait for a day which they were wearing good costumes to give me more to work with to make the best possible double page spread.

Progressions of my front cover

When I started working towards this version of my music magazine which is my final version, I had to firstly take pictures with my band members. After taking the perfect pictures for my front cover of my music magazine, I decided to then download the photos to be able to edit them in photoshop. The steps above show my progressions to make my final front cover.

Progressions of my contents page

Above is my finished final draft contents page progressions. To make the contents page, I had to look at other music magazines in order to have an idea of what I wanted my contents page to look like. After knowing what I wanted it to look like, I started to make it using trial and error in order to find the best combination for my contents page. With my contents page having pictures of the main band which this magazine is made around, it interests the viewers to turn straight to the page which they are on to read more about them.

Classmate review of my music magazine

William Wright;

Alex's music magazine has drastically improved over the period of time we have had to make our magazines. It started off with a basic, boring magazine in my opinion but now it looks like a professional magazine which if I had seen in a shop, I would purchase as I am in to this genre of music and would love to read more about it. In addition to this, Alex's front cover is very eye catching due to the colours he has used on the colour pallet. I would suggest that they way Alex could improve his magazine would be through putting more time in to writing a longer double page spread interview as I would love to know more about what was going on during the interview and the photoshoot as we, the audience, don't know what is going on behind the scenes and don't see the full side of the artists personality.

Possible places and shots for my next photoshoot

For my next photoshoot over the weekend, I have the opportunity to take various different photos with different shots, angles and backgrounds of my band members to give me more of a range of photos to use for my music magazine. I could also try different locations in order to give me more of a different feel to my magazine instead of it being just a white background. I have made a mood board in order to get an idea of what I could do to change the look of my music magazine using these locations.

Plan for the week - Week 6

I hope to complete layout research on other music magazines, a mood board on different ways I can take photos for a next possible photoshoot and a classmate review of my music magazine. I also hope to complete my music magazine final version.
