Reflection of the week - Week 6

I was able to complete all the tasks I wished to complete besides the actual photoshoot of my band members which is okay as I believe I already have enough photos to make my magazine. My final version of my magazine was completed which  allowed me to have it reviewed by a class mate, William Wright.

Classmate review of my music magazine

Alex's music magazine has drastically improved over the period of time we have had to make our magazines. It started off with a basic, boring magazine in my opinion but now it looks like a professional magazine which if I had seen in a shop, I would purchase as I am in to this genre of music and would love to read more about it. In addition to this, Alex's front cover is very eye catching due to the colours he has used on the colour pallet. I would suggest that they way Alex could improve his magazine would be through putting more time in to writing a longer double page spread interview as I would love to know more about what was going on during the interview and the photoshoot as we, the audience, don't know what is going on behind the scenes and don't see the full side of the artists personality.

Possible places and shots for my next photoshoot

For my next photoshoot over the weekend, I have the opportunity to take various different photos with different shots, angles and backgrounds of my band members to give me more of a range of photos to use for my music magazine. I could also try different locations in order to give me more of a different feel to my magazine instead of it being just a white background. I have made a mood board in order to get an idea of what I could do to change the look of my music magazine using these locations.

Layout research on other music magazines for my music magazine

After looking at other music magazines for research, I had noticed that my music magazine didn't have the correct measurements compared to other professional magazines such as FADER and DIY. Because of my magazine having really out of proportion measurements, I decided to take a NME music magazine and measure the barcode, margins and other components on the music magazine.

The measurements which I took from the NME magazine, the margins on the front cover, double page spread and contents page were all 10mm. The barcode was 25mm in height and 35mm in width. The positioning of the title on the front cover is central but with the title of the music magazine being ENEMIES which was play on words with the NME music magazine, there was only 10mm either side of the title.

5mm margin on the front cover
Barcode was 10mm width by 20mm height
Title was 5mm fro either side in the middle of the page

Title of the page is 5mm in the central of the middle of the page

Title was 5mm on either side with the title being in the middle
